Un Village dans la ville, un jardin des objets

Liege Design Biennale 2008
26 Sept - 19 Oct 2008
“When objects lose all their functions.
When they become mere form, stripped of all associations and pre-conceived notions.
When their identity becomes unclear, subject to multiple interpretations.
When the only way of making sense, is not to.
When the absurd, the ridiculous and the strangely familiar becomes commonplace.
How then do we relate to these objects?”
‘Twenty-two arrangements, one afternoon’ is an improvisational act on arranging a pre-selected collection of contemporary design objects. Removed from their primary function, these objects exist only as mere props. Through arrangement, new narratives and values are drawn in ways previously unperceived of; the objects themselves receive new layers of information and potentials that provide unexpected understandings on how we can relate to these autonomous things.
Commisioned by Gallerie Les Drapiers for the occasion of the International Design Biennale 2008, Liege, Belgium.
